European Blackjack Gold Review – Everything You Need to Know

Scott Lawson Written By Scott Lawson Published on 02.08.2018 Last Updated on 28.06.2024

For an animated table game, European Blackjack Gold looks as much like a live game as you could hope for. Which, for those trying to have an authentic casino experience from the comfort of their own homes, may be just the ticket. Those who came to this European Blackjack Gold review looking for any kind of customisation options, side bets or variants will be disappointed. If this game were an ice cream flavour it would be vanilla, through and through. Developer Microgaming has a fantastic reputation in the industry due to its consistency and quality so let’s put this game to the test.

Game’s Rules and Features

First thing’s first, let’s make sure you have a reasonable understanding of the standard rules of blackjack. It’s you against the dealer in a race to 21. First to have their cards equal to 21 wins. If you go over, that’s a bust and you lose your bet. If neither you or the dealer reaches 21, the closest number wins. In this variant, the dealer must stand on 17, meaning if their cards equal 17 they cannot hit to increase the value. This is to your advantage as your hand of 18, 19 or above will beat the dealer’s. Blackjack pays out at the standard rate of 3:2 and this variant offers no side bets or any opportunity to spice things up a little. Vanilla ice cream. No sprinkles.

Before you head off to play European Blackjack Gold, let’s have a closer look at that table. The RTP of 99.60% is very high and will go a long way towards protecting your bets. Insurance is one of the only gaming options here and is offered when the dealer’s first card is an Ace. Insurance pays at 2:1 and is essentially betting that the dealer will get 21 with its first two cards. This bet does not affect the outcome of the game. Also shown in the table, players can only play one hand at a time making for a slower yet more authentic game. Microgaming has added to the ‘realistic’ experience by adding voices murmuring in the background so players don’t feel alone at the simulated casino.
