Enjoy Punta del Este Welcomes New Management

Enjoy Punta del Este Casino and Resort, one of Uruguay’s top places for gambling recreation, recently welcomed a new general manager, Diego Berná. Berná is no stranger to Enjoy however, having worked in the company for over 26 years. As a part of his inauguration into the role, Berná spoke about his plans for the resort with optimism, projecting a bright future and exciting changes for patrons.

Redirection for Enjoy Punta del Este

Berná has come into the role after the evacuation of the last general manager, Ignacio Sarmiento, an Argentine who acted as manager for five years. It is a full circle moment for Berná and the company, given that he is originally from Uruguay and has worked at Enjoy since 1997. He was actually one of the first 100 Enjoy employees.

Berná’s era will likely focus on a few key points, based on what he’s expressed to press so far about his view of the role. For one, there is an interest in creating new experiences for Enjoy’s Punta del Este clientele. That means bigger and better entertainment and luxury offerings than what have been available in the past.

The point of this expansion in offerings is to cater to a different clientele, as well. Berná’s focus seems to be VIPs, the kinds of patrons that regularly visit other gaming and entertainment hotspots like Las Vegas, Monaco and Punta Cana (the Dominican Republic’s answer to Punta del Este).

Berná said these references are vital because clients will compare Enjoy Punta del Este to those resorts. They must work hard to be the choice of these international VIPs. However, Berná was also quite positive about the casino’s capabilities.

He explained what Enjoy has to offer, which is mainly a wealth of experienced and caring staff. Enjoy employs 230 people currently, some of whom have also been with the company for many years, like the new general manager. He said that clients notice the care and attention these employees put into their work, and this is an aspect that stands out in comparison to other brands.

Berná also emphasized that Enjoy’s size — small compared to Las Vegas hotels — can be an advantage. Guests receive a more personal experience, and the ones that return clearly value this. He hopes that the resort will continue to attract visitors from the US and Europe in particular, as this makes up some of the current clientele but not as high of a percentage as it could be.

The overwhelming majority of Enjoy’s clients come from Brazil and Argentina. No matter where clients come from, it sounds like they will have much to look forward to under Berná’s tenure. He explained some of the experiences he wants the resort to be able to offer in the coming months and years.

For example, visitors will be able to continue enjoying standard fare like dinner and a show on the resort premises. However, the resort will also eventually offer more bespoke experiences, like tours to special locations outside of the premises, for example to vineyards or nature views.

They also want to incorporate their game rooms into the special offerings by organizing high roller tournaments for VIP guests, as well as special raffles and other one-off games. It is also important that guests experience good treatment across the various spots within the resort complex, and that service is up to a high standard at every eatery, for example.

For his part, Berná has a track record to back up his plans. While working in another role at Enjoy, he was involved with a project in 2019 to expand into different markets, with an emphasis on VIP clients. The project was successful and over the course of a year, 100 new clients were attracted.

Now seems a ripe time to continue this work, with worries about the Covid-19 pandemic dying down and people traveling again in earnest. Berná also mentioned economic situations through Latin America, stating that some economies have faced a downturn. However, if his plan to continue international marketing is successful, such downturns should not have such a strong effect on Enjoy’s business.
